Watching her youthful, yet strong visually and musically, recent video on YouTube, one might notice pop — with a dash of indie — singer, songwriter Emma Milani has a confidence and creative spirit far beyond her 14 years of age.

The song from which the video, “My Own Language,” is created will be released Mar. 9 on iTunes, Amazon and streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.

“My Own Language” was written by the young girl, who is bilingual, and has experienced a range of cultural diversity growing up in the South Bay, California beach city of Redondo Beach and spending much of her formative years with her family in Europe, particularly in her mother’s homeland of Poland.

Emma wrote the song after talking with friends about the importance of having her own language and voice, as well as being true to herself and what she’d like to accomplish in life.

“I want people to know how important music is to me and how it gives me a way to share and speak ‘My Own Language’,” she says.

In the video, the beautiful young girl is surrounded by attractive friends, laughing, having fun and frolicking in the streets of Los Angeles. She’s got short pigtails, a pink baseball jacket and stylishly torn jeans.

She’s also playfully singing into a blue raspberry lollipop.

But, the lyrics of the song are poignant, and far beyond the pop singer’s teen playful attitude: “More than what they see, there’s layers and layers to me,” she sings, and, “Why should I be afraid speaking my own language? Why you gotta go and make it complicated?”

The single, “My Own Language,” was produced by Del Oro Music Record Producer Robert Eibach.

Eibach said he took on Emma’s project because: “I saw a lot of potential in her as a recording artist.”

“As I was working with her, I noticed the maturity in her abilities,” he said, “She is only 14 and wrote a song that is relatable to a large audience. I’m looking forward to “My Own Language” being a break-through single for her.”

In addition to her singing and songwriting abilities, Emma is recognizable to many from her acting work. She’s played roles on a number of T.V. Series and has appeared on radio shows, including a recent Interview on iHeart radio.

Since she was 7 years old, Emma has studied with vocal coach Nick Cooper — known as the “vocal coach to the stars” having worked with artists from Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez to David Douchovny and Katy Perry — and Emma began about then at the prestigious School of Dance & Music in Redondo Beach, Calif.

Currently a freshman in high school, Emma plans to keep singing and writing music, as well as acting throughout her career. She also hopes to attend college someday, possibly at New York University.

While a woman is pregnant, the two sides of her rectus abdominis (the “six-pack muscle”) separate from each other. These two sides of the muscle are connected by a thick piece of connective tissue. (This is what creates the groove that you can see running down the center of a fit person’s belly.) As the two sides of the muscle are pulled apart, this connective tissue gets stretched out.

Doing core workouts during pregnancy doesn’t prevent the muscles from separating. In fact, this can make the separation worse. When the abdominal muscles are active, the tension on the connective tissue in the center is increased, and it can be stretched even more. Some women continue with their core workouts during pregnancy hoping that this will help them get their flat tummies back afterward, when in fact, these workouts are actually making it harder for their bodies to bounce back.

After the woman has the baby and loses the baby weight, the connective tissue between the two sides of the muscle may remain stretched out. This can mean that she still has a “pooch” in her belly, even if she is physically fit and at a healthy weight.

Unfortunately, eating well and exercising just aren’t enough in this situation. The separated abdominal muscles won’t pull back together, no matter how thin and fit you become. Stretched connective tissue will always remain stretched.

A tummy tuck, medically known as abdominoplasty, is designed to help bring together abdominal muscles that have separated. The surgeon removes excess connective tissue between the two halves of the muscle, and then brings them together in order to create a flatter abdominal profile. Pockets of excess fat are also removed to create a smoother and leaner profile, and excess loose skin is removed to create a taut tummy.

A woman who wants to have a tummy tuck should wait to do so until she’s sure that she’s finished having kids. If you have a tummy tuck and then get pregnant again, the results are often lost during the pregnancy, and then you’ll need another tummy tuck to get them back again.

It’s important to recognize that a tummy tuck isn’t a weight loss procedure. Although some pockets of excess fat will be removed, the procedure won’t remove large amounts of excess fat. The Demise of Another Business ‘Genius’ Leaves Many Clues

Leadership expert Dov Baron weighs in on the perennial business leadership question: Is genius not enough? It’s the topic of his latest column in Entrepreneur Magazine.

Today, business leaders face an unprecedented level of scrutiny. Baron recounts and analyzes the rise and fall of one that didn’t handle that scrutiny well – Dov Charney. A Canadian who had been labeled as “genius” by a director at American Apparel, and who had also been pegged as a “brilliant leader” in a 2011 Business Insider article. 

But there were apparent contradictions, as Baron explored in some detail.

For example, Charney was eventually forced out of American Apparel in 2014, amid controversies involving a lawsuit against Woody Allen and allegations of sexual harassment, both of which apparently affected the company’s profits and viability. But as Baron also pointed out, leaders aren’t always flawless, and indeed many, if not most, have had serious flaws. As a case in point – Apple founder Steve Jobs, who was also forced out of his own company for personality-related reasons.

Baron takes the high road and digs deep for solutions as well as investigating the problems, stating that “…genius does not grant you permission to treat others as lesser beings…” and goes on to point out that leaders must not only have passion but “purpose, communication and compassion — so called ‘soft skills’ – to complement their hard skills and so-called genius.”

Is genius enough? For Dov Baron, the answer would have to be a very definitive “No.”

As Baron points out, the iconic brand American Apparel is no longer American. Canadian firm Gildan Activewear recently purchased the name and some manufacturing equipment for $88 million, but declined to buy the brand’s stores and manufacturing in the United States. It marks an ignoble ending to what was once a leading fashion staple.

And another level in the fall from grace for its founder Dov Charney.

He concludes by saying, “It’s no longer possible to use ‘genius’ as a pass for being a miserable human being. If you want to be a leader in today’s world, it is vital that you differentiate between harmless eccentricities (like Charney’s preference for Post-It notes on the wall instead of digital content) and character deficits that can, and probably will, eventually be your demise.”

NEW YORK, NY – 15 Mar, 2017 – Le Conte is announcing the launch of their new product, innovative candles that bring designer scents with an added visual experience. The candles take everything you love about a designer candle and adds a beautiful visual feature to your home.

The candles are 100% hand-poured in small batches, use all-natural soy wax and use 100% zinc-free cotton wicks. For fragrance enthusiasts, the candle is unique. While most candle companies use only 5% fragrance oil in their mix, Le Conte candles’ mixture contains 10% perfume-grade fragrance oil. This provides a richer and deeper scent that can be smelt even when you just open the box.

Exclusive access is now available to Kickstarter backers at http://leconte.co. Le Conte candles is expected to retail at 35 dollars, but early backers can receive the candle for as little as 25 dollars.

“Candles for too long have suffered from lack of imagination,” says Peter Yoo, Le Conte’s co-founder. “Le Conte is the first Visual candle that indulges your sense of sight. Each artwork was created to remind you that your home deserves to be a safe haven. A space for your senses to rejuvenate and recharge. We aim to make candles that help us rest and bring calm to our homes.”

Le Conte backers can expect a variety of rewards on a first-come-first-serve basis. Backers who pledge early can receive a candle for a pledge of 25 dollars (10 dollar discount from the anticipated retail price). Backers can rest assured that their candles will arrive on time, because the vessels are in California waiting to be filled and shipped out. After the campaign is fully funded, the candles will be filled and shipped immediately.
